Sinking sand swallowing my toes

Waves lapping wildly at my feet

Washing away remnants

Of people now irrelevant

Of events now insignificant

Of memories forgotten

Taking them

far far away

From the place

where it all happened

I walk along the shore

Piecing together the landscape

Eyeing the intricacies

Observing the details

So I can describe it

Such that

You can feel the sun’s warmth

Gleaming on your tired skin

The wind moaning

In your ears

The waves hungrily devouring

Your feet

So that you too can feel

Everything I feel

In this fragmented moment

Frozen in time
